People who I meet are curious about the name of my company - "RedShoes Solutions". My business focuses on performance consulting, training & coaching. What does that have to do with "RedShoes"? Good question!

Ever since I can remember I've always loved the story "The Wizard of Oz" written by L. Frank Baum. When I was a little girl, the MGM film "The Wizard of Oz" was broadcast once a year on television. It was a big deal back then. Seeing my beloved story brought to life was amazing - I was enchanted.

This story was about a young girl, Dorothy Gale, who was not a fairy princess. She lived on a farm and got into some trouble. She wanted to run away and go someplace, maybe "over the rainbow, someplace where there is no trouble." She was swept up into the eye of a tornado and landed in a magical place called "Oz." Some magic ruby slippers ended up on her feet, which made a wicked witch very angry. The witch was determined to take the slippers and make sure that the Girl never got home again. The Girl was told to seek the help of the great and powerful Wizard. Along the way the Girl becomes friends with a Scarecrow, a Tin man, and a Cowardly Lion. They too, are searching for something, so they decide to band together.

This story wasn't like so many fairy tales, where the Girl waits, hoping to be rescued by some prince. This story was different. The Girl faced her challenges until she achieved her goal, which was to go home. At the end of the story the Girl learned that she didn't really need magical power to get home. The Ruby Slippers ("RedShoes") weren't the power. The power was her belief in herself. She learned that she already had what she needed all along - she had the "power" - inside. Not only did she achieve her goal, but she also helped her companions to achieve their goals. What an amazing discovery!

When I grew up (some would beg to differ, but I digress) I came to realize what a powerful life lesson this story was for me. The Girl was able to get to where she was going by taking risks and staying focused on her goals. She reached her destination while helping others along the way to reach their destination. The Girl didn't need any help from the Wizard, because she learned that she already had what she needed, she just needed to know where to look. Her friends learned that they, too, already had their "courage, brains, and heart." They just needed a little help to find it.

That story is the basis for the way that I work. I offer my clients "RedShoes Solutions". I help my clients realize their dreams. I help my clients achieve their goals. I help my clients discover that it is highly likely that they have what they need right in their own backyard. They just need some help to find their way "home".

And yes, I really do believe that there's no place like home.

Where do you want to go? What do you want to achieve?
